What is an apostille?

An apostille is a certificate confirming the authenticity of a public document for international use. It replaces the traditional legalisation procedure between countries that have signed the Hague Apostille Convention. In Belgium the apostille is not issued by a court but exclusively online by the Legalisation Service of the FPS Foreign Affairs, digitally and with a QR code.

What exactly is an apostille?

What does an apostille cost?
€50 per apostille, on top of the translation rate. If you have several documents this amount applies per document; you enter the number in the order form.

Do I need an apostille on the original or on the translation?
That varies by country and by authority. Sometimes an apostille on the original document is enough, sometimes one is also required on the sworn translation. Check with the authority receiving the document, or ask us.
